Salvatierra is a relatively easy and quick town to visit.
As a detail the main points of tourist interest of Salvatierra are the following:
- Walking around its walls: As a medieval city, one of the attractions of Salvatierra are the walls that surround the old town. These walls had their importance in its first years of history since its border situation made it flesh of battles and disputes between the crowns of Navarre and Castile to control it.
- Walk through its medieval streets. As a curiosity Salvatierra in its beginnings was formed by only 3 streets, Calle Mayor and two other streets dedicated to the butcher’s guild and the shoemakers' guild.
- Contemplate its stately homes. In Calle Mayor we will find the main buildings of the town highlighting several of its stately homes.
- Church of San Juan Bautista: building of the late fifteenth century. It is a rectangular temple in Gothic style with the portico and bell tower in Baroque style.
- Hermitage of San Martín: The oldest religious building in Salvatierra dates from the 12th century. It is of proto-Gothic style, with Romanesque reminiscences and is currently embedded in the current Town Hall building.
- Menhir of Itaida: It is a megalithic monument before the year 2.500 A.C. It is a unique very sharp vertical stone that looks at the sky. which we can find at a cross of the track that goes from the top of Opakua to Urbasa.
